SUMMER SLOSHING 6

Along with the second or third day of gardening, came a reordering of the drinks cupboard. This was primarily due to the fact I ordered in a lot of beer and water when offered a £15 voucher for grocery deliveries. It also refilled the gap in my neat pantry!

Here is that shot I mentioned of the multiple former water bottles that my parents used to fill with water and stuff under the hedge all along the garden fence, in order to attempt to deter cats. It did not work. It took a lot of scrambling about on my part to extract the majority of these plastic pieces of junk - although thankfully the tip took them as recyclable, depite their being covered in mud.

Here is what the area from which I extracted the water bottles now looks like - with a broken flowerpot container used to hold back dropped leaves and other natural debris. Hedgehog friendly without any disgusting old plastic. I also got to work on the next stage of painting. I began to work my way up the stairs on the trim with Tibetan Gold paint, as well as along the under-window wall.

SUMMER SLOSHING 5

This is the shot of my kitchen windowsill after I rearrranged things a little. The only item out of place is the hanging geranium to the left, which usually inhabits the pink n white room but is getting a sun-soak excursion. The pink n white room is also a little different on the sill after a clean and tidy up, with salad plants in pots rather than the tray of lidded tubs.

Another shot of the kitchen window just one day later is proof that I tidied up some more - discarding the plastic tray. Now, how is that pantry going, you may ask...

Sigh, yes - I am guilty of turning it out yet again! It is now July, as I type up the blog and the first week began with lovely sunny weather. Hence, I escaped he typing chair I had planned on sitting in for a few hours and went out into the garden. Several jobs have been done, including snipping back brambles, dead-heading a rosebush, sweeping the path, pond maintenance, and the dirty grovelling chore of climbing underneath hedges and trees groping to reach and extract a collection of more than 2 dozen plastic bottles filled with water.

Whilst I have not yet uploaded all the photos from the latter job, I did take a shot of the front yard thru the bathroom window to show you the bees' vacation spot...

SUMMER SLOSHING 4

Yes, I did begin to do some actual indoor chores/DIY. I began to tackle the pink n white read n relax room. the first item I dealt with was my grandmother's needlework/craft table. Basically, other than my mother's using it on and off, it has stayed much the same as when my grandmother used it - and she died in my early childhood when I was aged just 4. Inside....
... were many needlecraft items. There were threads, silks, pins, a tea-tin of buttons, elastics, pieces of old cloth, and patterns. I am actually not very craft-inclined, although I 'can' knit, sew, embroider, etc - I simply prefer not to. I use my craft talents in the kitchen to create weird, gourmet, organic, vegan delights - my grandma may have approved of this, as she herself worked as a professional cook in London at one point of her life.

My plan is eventually to replace the little circle dark wooden table with this table - formerly used by my recently deceased father for his TV. As you can see, I have a pile of stuff to get rid of first - along with the craft items. I do not want to use or keep any of these 'things' - but am not the sort of person to throw out what another person might hanker after that I can make a few dollars on.
Therefore, I am holding an online garage sale to try to get rid of some 'stuff'. You can view some of the items that I have already listed HERE if interested.
